Even the Rainbow Road iteration has a unique gimmick with its bouncy boarders, making it an insane race if you know what you're doing. Look no further than Sunset Heights with its gimmick that the time of day changes during each lap, or Cheese Land and Ribbon Road who both got a unique theme going, especially for the prior, cause otherwise we'd have another generic desert track. Of course, you got your ordinary circuit and Bowsers' castle tracks - maybe a bit too many Bowsers' castle tracks -, but you also got unique ones as well. The courses too fix the issues many had with the first Mario Kart: A lack of themes. Instead of attempting the SNES sprite style, they instead tried to translate the Mario Kart 64 sprites over to Super Circuit, and that was done successfully. The courses and character sprites are brimming with strong colors, and the art direction is great. I never had a chance to play this one, but Mario Kart Super Circuit's graphics really stand out to me. It's in an odd spot, but is it in a bad spot? First, the graphics. It has retro courses, but only from the SNES, and it was treated more like a bonus.
